Top 3 ARIS Alternatives in the Process Mining Market in 2024
The process mining market is expected to grow by ~$1 billion, 40 to 50%, by the end of this year, with increasing number of vendors offering different features.
Software AG offers ARIS Process Mining, a popular process mining raising more than $100M annual revenue in 2020. However, ARIS has its shortcomings, which is why we recommend going over all plausible ARIS alternatives to grasp the best out of process mining tool you want to leverage.
Therefore, we will list shortcomings of ARIS process mining based on the ratings and comments users shared and evaluate ARIS alternatives to see if they can compensate for the areas ARIS fails to.
Shortcomings of ARIS
Software AG offers ARIS Process Mining software. Some assessments listed ARIS as one of the leading vendors in 2021.
We analyzed the user review data from public sources and noticed a few negative points for ARIS:
- Ease of use: On G2, it rates above the average for ease of use, but the number of reviewers is lower than other tools (See Figure 1). Moreover, 7% of reviewers from different public sources mentioned that ARIS was difficult to use.
- Meeting requirements: ARIS has been rated low for not being able to meet the requirements, as Figure 1 shows.
- Integration: Compared to other tools, ARIS users are less satisfied with the tool’s integration capabilities (Figures 5 & 6).
- Features: ARIS has an average performance for process mining features, as Figures 4 & 5 show. Specifically, users complained about the poor visualization & process mapping capabilities and lack of advanced features such as automated root cause analysis and customizable KPIs (Figures 2 & 3).
- Pricing: We did not come across
- Public information or comments on the product’s price.
- A free trial.
Now, we will go over two ARIS alternatives to check whether these vendors can address the downsides we detected for ARIS.
1. Celonis process mining
Celonis is one of the top vendors, claiming to be the number one by holding 60% of process mining market share. In the comparisons and reviews we collected, users mention Celonis as:
- Ease of use: Celonis process mining ranks slightly higher than ARIS considering how easy to use (Figure 1).
- Meeting the requirements: Celonis meets requirements more than ARIS does in the reviews (Figure 1).
- Integrations: Celonis performs better integrating different platforms to process mining tool than ARIS does. For RPA integrations specifically, the both vendors have the same rate. Yet, Celonis has more reviewers than ARIS Process Mining, affecting the average rate (Figure 4 & 5).
- Features: According to the user reviews, ARIS features have better performance than Celonis features (Figure 4).
- Pricing: Celonis price information is not publicly available. On user comments, ARIS seems to offer more negotiation flexibility over their prices than Celonis does (Figure 5).

2. IBM Process Mining
IBM Process Mining includes core capabilities and additional critical features, such as DTO and task mining, automated root cause analysis and integration opportunities to RPA and other IBM tools.
The IBM user reviews show that:
- Ease of use: IBM Process Mining has a higher score than ARIS for ease of use on G2 and Gartner (See Figures 1 & 6).
- Meeting requirements: IBM ranks the best for meeting the requirements according to 149 reviews on G2 (See Figure 1).
- Features: IBM Process Mining has the highest scores for real-time process analysis, process notation, mapping and process library on G2 (See Figure 4).
- Integrations: IBM ranks better for integration than ARIS, as Figures 4 & 5 show.
- Pricing: According to Gartner reviews, IBM is the most flexible vendor in contracting and pricing. Furthermore, IBM offers a free trial for a month (Figure 7).

3. UiPath Process Mining
Analysts can come up with UiPath Process Mining as another ARIS alternative. In the reviews that we collected, UiPath users mention:
- Ease of use: UiPath and ARIS have the same score for the ease of use of their platforms. However, the number of comments for UiPath is higher than ARIS, showing the popularity of the tool (Figure 1).
- Meeting the requirements: UiPath performs better at meeting the requirements than ARIS (Figure 1).
- Integrations: The strength of UiPath process mining is its easy integration with other tools, specifically RPA integration (Figures 1 & 6).
- Features: In all the relevant features, UiPath scores better than ARIS (Figure 4).
- Pricing: Although there is not a big difference in the pricing flexibility of both tools, UiPath users seem to be more satisfied with the amount they paid compared to ARIS (Figure 6).
